Anxiety

Anxiety manifests in various ways. If you find yourself persistently worrying about others’ opinions, grappling with OCD, experiencing panic attacks, health-related anxieties, or specific phobias like heights or enclosed spaces, support is available.

Depression

It’s common for individuals to experience periods of low mood and depression at some point in their lives. If you’re noticing a lack of energy, changes in sleeping or eating habits, feelings of sadness, guilt, or hopelessness, as well as difficulties with concentration and motivation, you may be dealing with depression.

Relationships

Acquiring the skills to cultivate healthy relationships is essential for overall well-being. I offer assistance in comprehending relationship patterns and honing communication and interpersonal skills across various facets of life, including family dynamics, romantic partnerships, parenting, friendships, workplace interactions, breakups, and navigating singlehood.

Stress

Stress arises as the body’s reaction to external pressures or “stressors.” Prolonged or chronic stress can lead to a myriad of issues including insomnia, relationship strains, health ailments, burnout, addictive behaviours, and dissatisfaction in career and life. Hence, acquiring stress management skills early on is crucial for mental health and that sense of well-being.

Self Esteem

Self-esteem is shaped by our life experiences and how others treat us, leading us to form perceptions of ourselves that may not always be entirely positive. An “inner critic” often emerges, reminding us of our flaws and fostering feelings of inadequacy. I offer support to enhance your self-esteem and confidence.

Trauma

Trauma can stem from a single incident like a car crash or prolonged experiences such as childhood abuse, family violence, or workplace bullying, with lasting repercussions on one’s life.

I work with adolescents, adults and couples.

I exclusively offer online counselling (telehealth) appointments, allowing me to work with individuals across Australia and overseas. While visiting my practice in person isn’t always feasible, telehealth makes it possible! All you need is a private space and an internet connection, and we’re ready to begin.

Yes, indeed. Since the rise of telehealth counselling during the COVID pandemic, numerous studies have examined its effectiveness as compared to traditional face-to-face counselling. The research consistently shows no significant differences in treatment outcomes between in-person and online therapy. This is excellent news for those seeking convenient, discreet, and high-quality mental healthcare from the comfort of their own location.

You’ll receive a video link (usually through Zoom) via email before your session. If you encounter difficulties connecting, call me on 0438 448 341, and I’ll assist you. If needed, I may also contact you on your mobile if I can’t connect online.

Simply click the provided link. If you’re using your phone, download the free Zoom app before our session. Clicking the link will bring you to a private room—a secure space for you and me to talk.

While you’re in your own space and not sharing a physical room with me, most aspects of our virtual sessions will resemble in-person appointments. I’ll observe your body language, consider verbal and physical cues, and proceed at a pace comfortable for you.

Just like a face-to-face session, you’re in control of the topics and goals you wish to address. This is a confidential and safe space dedicated entirely to you.

A safe space is crucial for open and honest communication during our sessions. I recommend choosing a private area where you can sit comfortably without distractions for the session’s duration. This allows you to freely express yourself, knowing you can discuss anything on your mind.

Ensure you feel safe speaking with me at home. If possible, inform household members of your session to avoid interruptions. If finding a safe space at home is challenging, consider alternative locations like your backyard, garage, car, or a private spot outdoors. The options are endless!

To Ensure a Seamless Telehealth Experience:

  • Check for strong phone reception or internet connection.
  • Prepare notes on topics you’d like to discuss.
  • Find a quiet, well-lit, and comfortable space.
  • Keep water and tissues nearby.
  • Minimize distractions—close windows and silence your phone.
  • Consider using headphones for enhanced privacy and audio quality.

With telehealth, you can access help no matter where you are in Australia!

The main benefit of seeing a telehealth psychologist is that it broadens your access to mental healthcare by catering to diverse circumstances and preferences that just isn’t possible with face-to-face appointments. It’s particularly beneficial for geographically isolated populations, individuals with mobility constraints, those seeking convenience, and those wary of clinic visits due to stigma or social anxiety.

While telehealth is highly effective for many, it may not suit everyone’s preferences or needs. Some individuals, especially children, may prefer face-to-face interaction for building rapport. Additionally, adjusting to communicating on screen may take time, depending on one’s comfort with technology.

Understanding the diverse needs of my clients, I offer appointments during business hours as well as early morning, evening, and weekend appointments for added convenience and accessibility.
